Design

I picked these three photos because they all convey different parts of graphic design that influence me. The add of the open mic image is an example of simplistic but efficient design. Sometimes less is more. The picture of the panda made out of the word "panda" repeated stood out to me. Even though it's chaotic, the colors are muted creating a good balance of chaos and serenity. The picture of the cups with the sprinkles lined up around the rim is also a cool example of design being used in an every day object. Although it's such a simple concept, finding designs like this influences me to look more closely to the things that surround me and pay attention to the simple things in life that at first glance seem average, but at second glance, turn into art.

amazing design

what i love about graphic design is the ability to take the inspiration that you see everyday and do anything you want with it. I chose these three because they design through text and color. I like how your eye is ably to travel through the entire piece and not just get stuck on one spot. My favorite is the second one because she is stationary but the added features give her movement it makes it hard to draw my eye away from it.

Inspirational Designs

I was really drawn to this first image mostly because of its bright colors and messy look. It's unique and visually interesting. I was on stumbleupon.com and I came across this awesome website that had so many cool and unique design ideas for everyday products. The waterbottle shown above is just one of many ideas. Why not take a product a step further to make it truly different from anything else out there? Another image that really caught my eye is the image of the tree shown above. I LOVE the beaming colors on the tree. It almost doesn't look real. I love to see this kind of beauty in life =)

Inspiration

The reason that the graphic arts interest me is because it covers a broad range of art forms. There are many different mediums that can be used for example drawing, calligraphy, and also photography, printmaking, and typography. The list goes on I chose theses images because they show a wide range of designs. The first image is a graphic that resembles the style of constructivism which is the beginning of graphic design. It’s a very strong compositional piece and the design is mesmerizing and in your face. The second image is a piece of typography. It is by Neville Brody and I like it because it combines photography with typography and creates a nice simple piece. The third image is a piece by Alexander Rodchenko a Russian constructivist. The colors are very contrasting drawing the viewer in and along with the shape of the line in the work it also makes you look at the lady yelling. Makes me wonder what she is saying.

Inspirations

I chose the first image, because I am very interested in using graphic design to raise awareness about soldiers at war. I think that it would be a great way to show support for them and their families, using photography, typography and graphic design. I would like to create meaningful photos for the families and soldiers, along with creating memorials for the fallen soldiers. I would also like to create awareness posters and event posters.
I chose the second image, because I used to be a dancer, and I love watching others dance. I really think it would be cool to photograph someone while they are dancing, and add effects to the background and around their body to put emphasis on the emotion and energy. I think that art is a form of expression in many ways, and dance is a powerful way to express yourself. I would love to create a portfolio using dance as an inspiration.
I chose the last image, because I am very interested in typography. I think it is a great way to show expression and emotion through both words and design. One way to do so is to use song lyrics with powerful meanings. I chose this image because Dave Matthews is my favorite signer, and I think his music has a lot of meaning to it. I would love to create something like this, because I could really connect to the emotion and meaning behind the piece.

My inspirations.

I am in love with the art of typography.  I found this image of the London Bridge made out of type, every word is a place to enjoy in London.  I like the thick, and quirky font, and the fact that they added the little crosses at the top of each peak just like the bride has.  This work shows just how much text can really do, it has movement at both ends of the bridge and at he bottom without eh water.  Also by simply varying the shades of yellow it creates a 3d look to the towers.

The second piece i chose is something that i would really like to learn how to do.  The photo is edited so well that it almost looks real.  I want to take a real life photograph and add illustration qualities.  It is an interesting interpretation on the human body, you see parts of his skin, and parts of his working insides, the heart, and muscles in a very different and artistic way with curvilinear shapes, diagonal overlapping.  I also like the faintness and hue of the skin, mixed with that deep ocean blue, it makes him really stand out against the black back drop.  The photo is mystifying.

The third piece i chose was another use of words/letters creating a picture.  When you are flying you look down and you see most city's as shapes, or letters.  I like that they made the city a play on words with URBAN.  I also like the the font they used to make it look hand written  almost like a map.  The word URBAN really stands out and yet, with the lines and arrows there is a lot of linear movement.  The colors are faded and it almost looks like water color, giving the real feel of the ocean or body of water that is drifting up towards the city.

Interesting Designs

This is a project that was done by my sister for her Master Thesis over in Dessau, Germany this past summer. I was inspired by her hard work and creativity for coming up with an idea for a future company. The way this box here in particular is very simple but attractive to the viewer.

I saw this one by David Airey while researching. I find images that have a message in the design to be interesting. I like the relationship between the quills on the porcupine relating to how a match are similar.

I chose this image because of the unique idea of putting images and articles from different kinds of magazines and using them as wallpaper. Doing this gives the room/house a whole new look instead of using solid paint colors, etc.. I found this interesting and inspiring in that to design something, you can look outside the box to new materials.

Inspiring Design

I chose these images for the the simple design and functionality. I believe that design also has to be functional as well as interesting. The first image is a tea steeper which I think is really cool because you no longer have to time how long tea needs to steep just wait for it to drain. Popcorn packets can be really interesting yet functional which is why I chose the second image. The third image is a fun take on the wireless mouse, making something functional also appealing. The way the mouse works is the little tail comes out and turns into the USB drive that plugs into the computer. Cute and functional :]
