victoria, influence

I chose this image because of it's movement. I like that it's suspended in the air to emphasize a flying through space feeling. Because of the little glows of light, the piece is almost angelic in it's design. It's very calming even though it's really complex.

I chose to share these images as some of my research for the street sign project. Three of my ideas for the signs are spaceship landing zone, caution: sword fight, and mermaid area. I have chosen these images because I searched online for simple images, being that they can only be black with negative space.

Karen_Project 3

For the third project, I am using the three above designs. I want to make a road sign that depicts "raining cats and dogs." I want to think of a creative way to use the sign and images of cats and dogs falling. My second idea was to make a sign that shows Mickey Mouse, or "Disney World Ahead." I think I want to put Mickey ears on the outside of the sign. Another one of my ideas was to have a "Falling House Zone." I want to play with rotating the box and making it into a house shape, and then add feet like in the Wizard of Oz.

I thought this was really cool because of non traditional use of color and shades of that color also the point of view is cool too kinda looking up on a face vs. head on.

If I ever have to draw another sun again, I might vomit. Over dramatization but I'm sure I'm not alone in that feeling. However, you cannot not smile when you look at this, and even though I thought 100 was going to be impossible I still find ways everyday to create a different sun.
Brilliant. A SD for photos, an SD for documents and an SD for arts, and they can be any size you want them to be. You could have 2gb, 2gb, 2gb to make a 6gb. Or go crazy and really add to get the number up there. Also much easier to transfer information from your phone or camera and download the pictures onto your computer.
This is a series of images of celebrities done on the computer. Besides the exaggeration of a few features, they are really life like! I chose this one because it is more familiar to a range of people.

I chose this as my first image because being someone who wants to become a photographer as my career I'll have to be aware and up to date with new cameras. I also thought this product was interesting because of it's size, it's sleek look, and it's accessibility.

I really enjoy this second image because of how the words are used to create the shape of the gun but also their play on the statement in the ad. Another aspect that I enjoyed was how the artists still has most of the parts of the gun and places the words left to right to complete the shape and not have the entire gun be made of words.

I wanted to show photograph as my third image because I was interested in the meaning of the photograph and the artists play on a clock. I also like it because place a clock that cleanly into an eye is something I want to learn.

These 3 images I found really awesome. I really love the first image because I've been really interested in type-based artwork lately because I just did a project similar in Typography. The second image I just thought was a really cool and creative idea. The idea of transportation is really being showed in the composition with the shoes and the bike. The third picture just really caught my eye because of the negative space within the eagle.

I chose this new layout on the game of scrabble because my family and I play scrabble all the time but the board we have is old and the colors are crappy. this is a very new way to play an old game without changing any of the rules. the type makes creating words fun and interesting as every word looks different, and instead of the muted colors of the board this is a solid board with a simple 2l or 3w as scores.
This logo for coffee I love. the fluidity depicts coffee very well and the use of letters as steam and aroma are very creative.
this is an image of a 3d image made from screws. its inspirational that an ordinary object that most people look over, can be made into such an amazing work of art.

Klimas - I like the use of scale and depth in this piece. The man in the picture is useful in showing how big the tree house is. I also like the two tracks used to show how far the field goes back in the distance. It is a good example of the thought put into making a composition.
Manu Pombrol - I came across this artist on flikr and thought that a lot of his work was very interesting. I like to find new artists that experiment with photoshop and photography.

I found these images on stumble upon. They really caught my eye because the subjects actually look like they are coming off of the page. The artist did a really good job at creating depth so that the images would look realistic and give off the 3D feeling. These two pieces keep my interest because of the contrast of dark and light and all the values that create the shadows throughout each work.

I Love this piece because it is like nothing i have ever seen before. I think it is very interesting how they decided to warp their image and really catch your attention. Its not just a painting its a sculpture as well.

I just this was amazing because it is crazy what people can do with their medium of choice. I found it on stumbleupon.com and there was huge page on sand sculptures. I Deffinatly want to try and do that one day.

Jackie_pencil vs. camera

I really enjoyed these images when I stumbled upon them. I love the fact that the artist is playing with both drawings and photographs to mix them into one surreal composition. It gives a different perspective and meaning to these landscapes. It's a mix between imagination and real life, to create interest and curiosity, and I thought it was very clever.

These photographs are created by the artist Adam Santelli. They are from his "Cannonball" and "Light" series. These images really keep my interest because at first I wasn't sure exactly what was going on. As I looked at them more I realized that the individual was underwater. I love how the bubbles repeat throughout the composition and how the light plays on the subject. These pieces are also interesting because in a way the represent a single moment, like jumping in the water, and what that can look like.

I love simple and creative interior design pieces. I chose the tree shaped book shelf because it creates visual interest it serves its purpose as a bookshelf and it's very clever. The lamp I thought was absolutely awesome... instead of changing lamp shades you can just give it a new hat. Wonder if they have different kinds of hats ....

Claes Oldenburg - I chose this because I like the use of color and scale. It is interesting because it is open for interaction from the public and leaves you wondering why a spoon and cherry were constructed here.
Felix Gonzalez-Torres - I chose this because I like that you have to think about what it means. This artist posted images of empty, slept in beds on numerous billboards around the city to represent the loss due to AIDs. When you look at this seemingly simple image you immediately understand the feelings of emptiness, loneliness, and loss.
Elizabeth Murray- I chose this because I am generally drawn to art with a lot of color. I like how this artist alters the canvas to break away from the traditional rectangle.

I chose this as my first image because of the way the photographer uses the wood to pull the viewers attention across the photo. Also I enjoy how although the background of the photo is out of focus the viewer can still make out the general figures whilst being led from left to right. I also really like this photo because I love macro photography and getting up close to objects that most people take for granted.

I chose this as my second piece of work because along with the other photos that this person published on their website this photo is beautiful. The movement as well as the different colors that can be seen are fantastic. Also capturing something like this is extremely rare and a very wonderful experience. This picture makes me want to become a photographer even more than I already do.

I chose this as my third picture because one thing I really want to begin experimenting with is long exposure photographs. This photographer set up his camera for long exposure which means the lens stays open to capture light without using the flash feature on your camera. The different lines in the photograph draw the viewers eyes all over the the place but still has some order with the lines created by the stars in the background.

Jordan 10-11

I found these designs of packaging while looking for inspiration for a typography project. I think that the designs of this bottle and box are very unique. The first one I like it because coke it known for their classical curves in their bottle and this one is rectangular. The bottle designs reduces the packaging size and helps be more efficient. The doritos box I liked because each panel looks like a chip and it give the brand a new take on the chip bag.

I really like the play on typography and form in this picture. Also the different typography makes your eye move better.

Jordan - Oct 4

The first image I found while looking for inspiration for my typography project. We have to create a political poster with using limited color and only text. I really like this movie and I think that it is very simple. I like how quotes from the movie make the image of Hunter S. Thompson. Its a very simple composition but it tells the title of the movie and some insight into it with the quotes. The second image I choose because of the typography within the shapes of the helmet. I like the color combination because it is limited to red white and blue but its very intricate with the different ways it is used.

I posted this as my first picture because as a photograph that is very well known for showing a public execution it stood out to me. What really made want to post this is the way the artist used something as simple as a stamp to create a completely different feel in the photograph and the text at the bottom to convey their opinion.

I chose this as my second picture because when I first saw this photo of this car and coin I thought they were minatures. After reading about the artist and the fact that these objects were real size I was amazed. I also found it interesting how the artist is playing with the mind of the viewer knowing that they'll think the objects are small when they are real size.

I chose this as my third item because I thought it was inventive and visually interesting compared to a modern day soda container. I also found it amazing how all the designer did was change the shape from a round bottle to a more rectangular one. In changing one factor, shape, the designer was able to also change what the bottle was made out of to create a greater statement of "going green."

This next one wont let me add a picture, but it is a color mixer and it is Awesome.
