Sarah_ProjectOne9/12/11

I found this website while doing more research about clocks. It had many interesting clock designs, but these ones stood out the most to me because they were most unique.

Jordan- 9/13

Recently I have been designing a business card. I found theses images of some really creative designs that helped inspire me. The first one I choose I think resembles a card card design and I found that to be a really interesting design choice. Also the transparency is something very different and adds a lot of character to it. The 3 dimensional company name on this card really makes the card very original . The reason I liked the second business card was because it was made out of cardboard with paper. This is a medium you wouldn't expect to be used for a business card. I also like the color combination its really simple and looks clean against the cardboard. The third business card I liked because of the rounded rectangle shape of it there are not that many cards that have this design and it makes it unique. The contrasting yellow and brown colors make the card stand out from the others.

Victoria- Inspiration week of 8/12

This is what I've chosen to post for this weeks inspirational entry. I just got a new place, so decorating for my new house has been a must. This modern, simplistic design of a room is really aesthetically pleasing for me. Even though the room is very simple, the shapes and layout of the room are not conventional making it much more interesting. The way the room is balanced with the decorative branches and candles really helps make the room feel unified as well. The light lavender color of the walls really lightens the room up from it's dark shelving. This sleek and simple design is something I will definitely keep in mind while decorating my new house.

Megan-3images for project. Monday 9/12/11

The first image i chose is a great photograph of fingers.  The hand in front is the most in focus thing in the picture, which makes it really jump out at you.  It inspires me for my project because there are so many reasons e use our fingers each and everyday, this just displays one.  I even find myself counting out the days on my fingers sometimes.  Very eloquent display of how much we use our fingers in every day life.

The second image i chose fascinated me because it takes the fingers and adds multiple different textures to it.  We recognize the them as fingers because they are atop a hand, but we wouldn't if we had a close abstract view of these textured fingers.  Fingers have a very obvious texture and this piece really plays on that.

The third image i chose was another photo that shows how often we us our fingers in every day life.  I like that you can barely see this woman's face, she is not the focal point.. that cigarette and what is holding it are the focal point.  It is a really beautiful display of the many uses of fingers.

Victoria- Inspiring piece- week of 9/4

I think this image is captivating. The way they edited this picture makes it seem as though the blue in this persons eyes was made from a splash. I am also doing "water" as my theme for my project so this is the image I chose for this week's blog entry. I like the use of the black and white surroundings, highlighting the eye itself. I don't think this image would be as successful if they didn't make everything around the eye black and white.

Victoria- 3 graphic examples of project

These 3 graphic images pertain to my project topic (water). I chose to use them as my examples because each of these compositions are unique in their design. I enjoy the play on words with the "water"melon. I had planned on using that same play on words myself so this is a good example of something I could do with that. The image of the water person jumping also caught my attention because I didn't think of water as being a solid until I saw this picture. It can create shape and form which is something I can keep in mind for my future designs. Lastly, the image of the water warped around the globe is astonishing. It's so sleek in it's design and the use of the different colors in the water is extremely interesting to me. I love the play with gravity here, I've noticed a lot of successful designs involving water have a consistent technique of capturing water in motion. The way that water looks when it's broken down into a freeze frame is amazing and definitely give me something to think about for this project.

Project 1

Hello! I decided to dedicate this post to our first project. The topic I chose to do my 100 thumbnails of is high heeled shoes. I chose this as my topic because I love shoes of all kinds and there is such a broad range of designs for high heeled shoes so I figured it would be a good candidate for this project. The first image I chose to post because of the angle at which those shoes are displayed. It inspired me to not only look at the shoes from the front or from the side, but to step outside of the box. The second image I though was so cool. The design of that shoe is simply amazing. I love the way the heel cuts in like that yet still keeps a sense of balance. And the third image I had to post because as you can see the heel is replaced with a ladder. How clever! Definitely tons of inspiring shoe images out there! =)

Jordan- Website

I found theses images on this website Abduzeedo its a good website that has everything from inspirational sections with tons of pictures to look at to pages of tutorials, check it out. I like the first one because it combines a photograph with a digital design. The design is really geometric and it resembles the texture of the mountains in the background. The second image I choose was because it reminded me of the day of the dead skulls. It combines the old with the new with the twist of having it on a bear. The background it also very subtle and intricate much like the designs on the face.

Anna_lollipop

I chose this image because I think it's awesome how the shattered candy was captured. The movement in the image is really great, from the bottom through the lollipop stick all the way to the top left where the pieces are flying. I would love to somehow recreate the breaking and the movement in the images for the final project. I think its dynamic would work great in the piece.

Jacklyn Kelley_chocolate

For project one, I decided to do chocolate. I love the way that chocolate looks when it is being poured, and I think I will be able to do a lot with that. I think this graphic is really cool, because there are two faces coming together and kissing, which makes the image very complex and interesting to look at.

I like the way that assorted truffles can look as a composition. When you put a variety of different designed truffles together this creates lines, movement, texture and a variety of colors that allows your eye to shift throughout the composition. I am going to play around with this and put mixtures of truffles together to create different compositions.

This is an image of frosting. I am going to try and create different designs using frosting. I feel like you can create so many lines and swirls in frosting to make an interesting composition. I'm also going to take close up pictures of the frosting on baked goods, such as cupcakes.

Meganv_finger ideas

The first picture I chose is a little on the grotesque side.  It is abstract because it is so close up, yet because of the distinct lines and texture you can clearly tell it is a cut on one of the fingers.  It keeps you wondering and cringing all at the same time. With my project i plan to do some abstract work with just the texture of the finger.

The next picture I chose was a photograph of fingers as people.  The fingers truly take human form in this photograph, with the drawn on eyes, and the drawn on arms, but also with their posture.  The middle man is bent over in pure laughter, and it really makes them all look like they are having a good time.  This work is elegant in black and white with the contrast of the very dark drawn on features and the light skin of the finger. The look like true people, but at the same time, it is funny because you can tell they are fingers. I will be playing with this for my project.

The last picture that I love is the finger print formed with typography.  I will definitely be doing something similar with my finger project, because I enjoy making forms with typography.  Finger prints are so unique to each persons fingers that i would like to play with the ways to form them and how we recognize it.  I enjoy this piece because it takes meaningful poems about fingerprints and forms one.

SARAH_VAZ_Poster Project

For my first project I chose the subject of clocks. The first picture interested me because how unique it is. It serves two purposes: a clock, and a hamster wheel. I chose the second picture for the same reason as the first. Interesting to see a clock being represented as a hamster wheel, or as in this one a mirror. The third deals with the same reason for one and two. I like the idea of playing with taking an ordinary round clock and while keeping the shape, making it look like it is something else from a distance.

Olivia Fussner_Project 1

I was planning on doing a different subject, but yesterday when it was so rainy and miserable all I could think about was the sun. So I decided to do sun. These images really further inspired me because they are all so different. The top one, I love that it is just a gradient but it is clearly identifiable as a sun. The second one I also enjoy that it is an abstract sun. I love the fluid rays that project out of the circular sun. The last sun is more abstract but the circle is still visible as well as the rays spiraling outward. I love the curves and how circular the entire composition is.

Karen_100 Thumbnails

These three images helped me think of ideas for my thumbnails for the 1st project. The first two images are really interesting to me. They both represent an elephant, but each one has a unique design inside. I like the look of the image as a whole and want to play around with this technique for my thumbnails. The last elephant is nice and really simple in design. I like how there isn't a lot of detail, but you can still tell what the shape is supposed to be. I also want to play around with this idea by using different colors and cropping.

Heather_Project One

For project one, I am doing 100 interpretations of speakers. I used mostly headphones and earbuds for my thumbnails today, and got a lot of inspiration as well as ideas from different pictures I found on the internet. I have posted a few below.

I chose the top picture because it uses a lot of color and clearly shows the shape of the headphones. I chose the second picture because I did a few thumbnails with earbuds as well as the cords. I chose the third picture because it is an innovative design for headphones and I will be coming up with different shapes and sizes in my thumbnails. I chose the fourth picture because this was my original inspiration for this project and I like the shape of these as well as the bright colors.

TimWood_inspiration

I chose this first image because the design of this house intrigued me. It emphasizes a having a closer relationship with the environment around you and natural lighting for certain parts of the house.

The second image with the sketchbook really pulled my attention because the designer made a sketchbook become a graphics tablet. I also liked it because it allows artists who prefer sketchbooks to tablets a chance to meet in the middle.

The third image is a photo of led lighted stairs with motion sensors. Although the designer might be pushing the limits to how flashy stairs can be I think that it's a fantastic idea. Having stairs that light up when you walking up or down the stairs can be helpful in the dark and reduce possible injuries.

Web Design sites

http://www.2advanced.com/#/home
I liked this site because the loading animations but also the site's transitions.

http://tangyauhoong.com/negative-space/

Graphic Designer Amber Miro

http://www.ambermiro.com/ I like this site because of the

way the designer organized their site and also how they used
images as links. I feel that the first impression that a
website gives will determine whether the viewer stays at the
sight for a few minutes or for an hour.

These images inspire me because I love light and colors. These images to me are amazing. I cannot even begin to fathom how these are created. The concept or the technique. The nike one inspires me more than creatively because it pushes me to not only want to create images like this, but it also pushes me in my daily work outs. The image with the light and the dancer inspire me again because I love the play of light and the silhouette of the image. I also love how the colors interact with each other. The abstract image inspires me because of its complexity. It doesn't matter what the image is, the colors and light and contrast is so dramatic, I love it.

3 Designs

I really like these three designs. The first one is an all-in-one fold out living room set. It's an awesome design and it's very functional. There are so many different ways that you can arrange the different pieces of furniture to suite your needs and the space that you have. There are more images on the site that show how you can change the look of this set. I really like the typography in the next image. Type is a very important aspect of graphic design and I like the way the letters flow into each other. The different weights of the letters keep my interest. The third image shows different juice boxes. Each box represents the juice that is inside. I liked this design because it's clever and functional at the same time.

3 Inspirational Designs

Rachael Lynsey Rubin is a makeup artist as well as photographer. I actually found this artist on facebook and she has portfolios of interesting pictures such as this one. I chose this specific picture because I am usually drawn to more colorful things. I think that the makeup as well as the editing that she did is beautiful. My favorite part of the picture, though, is the models hair. The way that she styled it along with the way that the colors and lights hit it is what inspires me. You can see the thought process behind this picture.
Yayoi Kusama's "Fireflies on the Water". I chose this work because I have just learned about this artist in another one of my classes and have since become obsessed. I like that she uses very simple objects such as mirrors and lights and has the ideas to arrange them in these elaborate installations. This piece was installed in a room using 150 lights, mirrors, and water. The room seems to go on forever because of her use of mirrors, and also goes high up above the viewers head. I believe that pieces like this give the viewer a chance to have their own unique experience and thoughts about the art. This inspired me because I like the use of light.
John Nouanesing's "Paint or Die but Love Me" paint drip table. I chose this because it is an innovative design of furniture as well as an art piece. It is almost an optical illusion, because it seems to be melting and dripping yet it is a table. The color choice also makes this piece interesting because red comes with so many emotions behind it, let alone the fact that it looks like blood. This inspired me because I love the bold use of color, and the daring design of this table.
